Thank you to all of you who submitted entries for our decorating the cow contest. We received several great designs and it was very hard to choose the winner. The winners of the cow decorating contest is Julia Alexander & Natalie Endres from the Valley View Elementary team managed by Joelle Pulido. This year's t-shirt & pin design will be based on their entry. Congratulations.

Both sessions of the Dec 10 at Block House Creek Elementary in Leander and both sessions of the IC Workshop at Carpenter Hill Elementary in Buda are full. The January 21 IC Workshop in Harker Heights still has spots open in both sessions.

Six Instant Challenge Workshops!!
DI alumni and High School DI teams from around Capital Region will set up four Instant Challenge stations offering a variety of Instant Challenges for the teams to do over a three-hour period. There will be two sessions on each day, one in the morning and one in the afternoon.
For: Teams – Each team must be accompanied by at least one adult.
The Dr Pepper Museum is excited to announce that it is hosting Toy Tech, a traveling exhibition from June 4 through September 11 October 30. The 2,000 square-foot exhibition, located within the Dr Pepper Museum, gives visitors the opportunity to learn about the making, developing and history of toys.

St. Stephen's Middle School Musical Friday and Saturday evenings, October 14 and15 is a free event and a great field trip for DI teams. The cast and crew of fifty-five middle school students have been working hard on this production of OnceUpon a Mattress, a family-friendly story based on the well-known fairy tale about the princess who just couldn't get a good night's sleep unless the mattress was just right. Bring the whole family for an evening of good fun Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m.
All Capital Region teams placed 21st or above with five teams in the top ten and two teams receiving trophies and medals for second place in their challenges. Our Global results are below:
We received three wildcards which will allow three additional teams to compete at Global Finals. Congratulations goes out to The Myth Masters from Canyon Creek Elementary managed by Mathavi Shankar. They will be competing in Challenges D & E. The Grisham MS Imaginators managed by Janani Janakiraman will also be competing. Their challenge is Challenge B. Last but not least, The Three Blind Mice from Regents School of Austin managed by Debra Jacobsen will be presenting their Project Outreach solution.

Due to the weather, the appraiser training scheduled for Saturday, Feb 5, will be delayed by 1 1/2 hours. Check-in for ALL appraisers will start at 9:30. The training will start at 10:00 AM. We expect the training to end around 1:00 PM. Please, drive safely.
Look under Regional Tournament 2011 and then under forms. All team members must have these forms filled and signed. The team manager will have to show the forms at team check-in on the day of the competition.

The board meeting on Monday, January 10, 2011 has been moved to Rawson-Saunders School at 2600 Exposition Blvd, Austin, TX. It will still be at 6:30 PM. Contact Jennifer Timm to order a Thundercloud Sub to eat at the meeting.
Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Dec 4 Instant Challenge Workshop will be held at West Ridge MS and the Jan 22 Instant Challenge Workshop will be held at Patton Elem. Sorry for the confusion.

Due to unforseen circumstances we had to change the date for the last IC Training for Managers. Instead of Thursday, Nov 4, it will be held on Thursday, Nov 11, at Hyde Park Baptist School in room E110 from 7:00 PM until 8:30 PM.
Two Instant Challenge Trainings for Managers have been added to the schedule. The first one will be held at Bethany United Methodist Church Activity Center in rooms 206 & 207 from 7:00 PM until 8:30 PM on Monday, Oct 25. The second one will be on Thursday, Nov 4 at 7:00 PM until 8:30 PM. The site has not been determined yet. It will either be at Hyde Park Baptist School or Rawson-Saunders.
The new DI season has officially begun!!! The challenges were released at midnight last night. Check with your campus coordinator to find out when you will be able to download the challenges.
The end of year social/board meeting that was scheduled on April 24 at Maria Badgett house has been moved to May 2 at 2:00 PM at Jennefer Timm's house due to scheduling problems. We will be electing next year's executive board so all board members need to attend.
The Canyon Vista MS team managed by Ed Sills received a rating of Excellent at the state tournament in Project Outreach - Band Together. They have been selected to advance to Global Finals at the end of May. Congratulations.
The state tournament schedule has been posted on the state website. Look for the state schedule for our teams under State Tournament 2010 on our website.
At the awards ceremony, ACE Academy placed second for elementary level Breaking DI News and Valley View Team 3 placed 1st. However, after the award ceremony it was determined that there were three teams whose team names had been switched. The real first place team was ACE Academy - Time Travelers and the real 2nd place team was Patton Elen - The Four Fab Frappucinos. Our sincerest apologies to the affected teams.
Super Saturday is a skills workshop. We offer classes in such areas as stage presence, improv, technical elements, script writing, team building, costuming, character development, robotics, etc. Each team will attend 4 sessions.
To sign up for the Super Saturday, email Terry Alvarez at mtmmc@austin.rr.com with your district, campus, # team members attending, challenge and level. Once you have received the confirmation email, fill in the form and mail it along with a copy of the confirmation email and a check.
Many thanks to the folks at Leander ISD for volunteering to host the tournament for the second year in a row. Our tournament will be held on Feb 27 at Rouse HS.
